It’s been said that “playing the blues” is much more than knowing a few chords and playing techniques – it’s the attitude, phrasing, and the fact that you’ve lived and grown up with the blues that makes the genre what it is! In this regard, it would seem that the general meme is true: you don’t play the blues, the blues plays you.
It comes from within, and you have to find this attitude in yourself and develop it. So, if blues music really can’t be taught with numbers, how can you start your journey to become a blues musician?
That’s a great question, and here’s the answer:
The Blues Course is a methodical approach that shows and helps you understand the flavors of the blues in a way that sounds cool, is fun to learn, and most importantly: challenges you to try new concepts and licks. You heard that right: no easy, formulaic licks that have already been done to death everywhere on the internet.
Instead, go on a journey and understand the elements of great blues solos and riffs to start building your own vocabulary that will allow you to improvise anywhere on the fretboard.
